About the position

Your challenge will be making the best of the following tasks and activities:

  • Marketing and sales support:
    • Planning and providing demonstrations to end users and distributors on-site (client- and/or distributor-site) and remotely (Maastricht based);
    • Provide input for marketing materials and assist in obtaining these;
    • Contribution to (external) events, such as trade shows and conferences;
    • Presentation of results in webinars/conferences;
  • Customer support:
    • Understanding needs from end users and distributors;
    • Installation support: Provide training on-site and remotely;
    • Follow up with clients after installation to ensure maximum use of VitroJet;
  • Applications development:
    • Able to interact with customers about the best way to create biochemically optimal conditions in combination with VitroJet use;
    • Workflow optimization with VitroJet in relation to samples;
    • Planning and execution of (vitrification) experiments in-house and on-site with clients;
    • Imaging & reconstruction: operation of available TEM, data acquisition, use of available reconstruction software;
    • Reporting of breakthrough results in e.g. scientific papers, white papers, application notes;
    • Stay up to date on latest sample preparation approaches and propose novel concepts based on obtained knowledge, literature review and customer interaction;
  • Engineering support:
    • Relay feedback from the field back to engineering to feed development;
    • Support in application and user related issues, such as e.g. technical documentation;

Skills & experience

Our ideal candidate combines the following skills and experiences:

  • MSc or PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics or Structural Biology combined with relevant working experience (3+ years);
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of cryoEM sample preparation, understanding and ability to operate high-end cryoEM is preferred;
  • Customer focused;
  • Motivated team player who can organize work independently;
  • Strong communicative and inter-cultural skills (verbal and non-verbal);
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken. Dutch and a third language is highly valued;
  • Organized, disciplined and eager to keep learning.
